(Biochemistry) Programme
|
The M.Sc.
Biochemistry programme was started on 2002.
The programme follows the scheme of subjects – theory and
practical framed by the College under autonomous status to offer the
students a sound application-oriented grounding in Biochemistry.
Specialized areas like Bioinformatics, Plant and Animal Tissue
Culture and Bio Process Engineering are introduced so as to equip
students for advanced levels of innovative work. Stress is placed on
the development of advanced practical knowledge and skills through
extensive laboratory work. Cell Biology and Genetics are offered as
special papers. The course spans four semesters and comprises 14
theory subjects, 3 practical and a project in the final semester.
|
|
Value Addition
|
Apart from the strong open ended practical
focus, seminars, guest lectures, field and industrial visits and
other interactions serve to showcase areas of current development and
practical applications. Short term career oriented enrichment courses
(like Tissue Culture, Enzyme production etc.) are organized. Students
are helped to undertake summer training in research labs, hospitals
and industries.
