The School has been in existence for 16
years and has designed instructional strategies to meet the
challenges of advanced computer education namely, transmission of
vast bodies of knowledge and engenderment of conversance and
competence in procedures; fostering the ability to keep learning and
keep abreast of explosive new developments; and facilitation of
creativity which alone could ensure a competitive edge in a field
brimming with endless innovations.

The School offers the 3 year undergraduate
programmes Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), B.Sc(Computer
Science) and B.Sc(Information Technology), 2 year Postgraguate
programme M.Sc(Computer Science), Five year integrated MSc (Software
Systems) courses in addition to the 3 year MCA programme. The School
is also approved to offer the M.Phil Programme in Computer Science
from the year 2001-2002.

The School has exceptionally modern and up
to date physical facilities – spacious and well furnished
laboratories and classrooms, Conference and Seminar Halls, Audio
Visual room, Library including CD library and extensive state of the
art computer facilities, with internet access. The labs are open up
to 9.00 p.m.

The
School has a full complement of committed, well qualified and
experienced faculty believing in close teacher-student interaction,
and setting an example by working long hours.

Computer Centre: Extensive hardware and
software of state-of-the-art modernity are available.
|
|
Centralized
Server room with 8 branded Servers, which includes a Xeon Server, 4
PIV Servers loaded with Windows & Linux with cross platform connection
of Fiber optic campus wide Backbone Network Connectivity.

UG
Computer Lab with 66 Systems, which include Pentium Dual Core
Clients, and Core 2 Duo Clients.

PG Computer Lab
with 90 Systems, which include Pentium Dual Core Clients, and Core
2 Duo Clients.

Information
Technology lab with 64 Systems, which include Core 2 Duo Clients.

A wide range of software including all operating
system software’s, RDBMS (Oracle 10g, Power builder, SQL
Server 2000, SQL Server 7.0), Compilers (COBOL, Fortran, Basic,
Pascal, C, C++, Java) and Product Software’s such as Office
2003, MS Office 97, Harvard Graphics, Lotus 123, MS Visio, MS
Project 98, Multimedia Software’s like Adobe Premiere,
PageMaker, Corel Draw, Photoshop, Premiere, Macromedia Director,
SCALA, FrontPage 2000, Web Publishing Studio, (Adobe Creative
Suites Premium 1.0 Media - Photoshop CS, in design CS, illustrator
CS, Version Cue, Golive CS, Acrobat Pro), Adobe After Effects STD
6.0 Media, (Macromedia Studio MX 2004 for Windows-Flash
MX,Dreamweaver MX ),MSDN Academic Alliance which include all
Microsoft Updated software.

All
the departments in the College are automated with Inspro plus
software so as to facilitate automation of routine administrative
work, which leads to paperless office work.

INTERNET CONNECTIVITY: A dedicated 4.0 Mbps,
1:1 Radio link Frequency is installed inside our campus. This
connects all the systems in the campus.

Campus
Local Area Network is centralized with Fiber Optic Module Nortel
Bay Stack 450 series switch.
|
|
|
|
The
three year full-time MCA programme is a 6 semester course following
the curricula and syllabi which incorporate the latest developments
in the field of IT and leading to the University’s MCA degree.
The sixth semester is entirely devoted to a real life experience
project work of problem solving/solution providing type to be
undertaken in a reputed professional organization or company.

Seminars,
Guest Lectures, Paper presentations etc., are an integral part of the
programme. Industrial visits organized by the School to various
establishments enable the students to have a feel of real life
situations in industry and the technologies in use at present and
under development for the future.

A
Placement cell at the GRD School of Computer Science has, with considerable
success, organized an effective placement for the students.

The
Department has an active M.Phil programme. Areas of research
interests include : Internet Programming, Parallel processing,
Computer Networks, Multimedia applications, Mobile Applications. The
Department can offer consultancy services/support by way of
conducting training programmes in specific areas and undertaking
Application Software development, Computer Solution Development etc.
