|
The Postgraduate (MBA) facilities of the
department have been approved by the All India Council for Technical
Education (AICTE) for running the MBA full-time and part-time
programme. The postgraduate facility is called the GRD Institute of
Management. The department / GRDIM offers the 3 years undergraduate
BBM degree programme, the 2 year MBA full-time and 3 year MBA
part-time study programmes.
The GRD Institute of Management focuses on
the formative synthesis of educational inputs in developing
management professionals and keeps evolving a spectrum of
instructional strategies and related activities to make its MBA
programme a holistic experience. An important part of this training
is to equip persons to function effectively in an environment marked
by extreme competition, daunting challenges and rapid changes in
diverse aspects. The institute has been approved for offering
research programmes, M.Phil and Ph.D. in Management from the academic
year 2001-2002.

Student representatives
are actively involved in planning the placement activities and making
the necessary arrangements for Campus Placement Interviews. The
students participate in several Personality Development Programmes in
preparation for attending the placement
interviews.
The institute
plans in advance to bring the top corporate companies for Campus
Placement. The companies and organizations which are regularly
visiting the GRDIM for campus recruitment include Hindustan Coca-Cola
Beverages Private Limited, Standard Chartered Bank, e-Serve, Citi
Financials, ICICI Prudential, ICICI Bank, myTVS, Naukri.com, Chennai
Silks, HDFC, KGISL, Karvy Financial Services, Reliance Insurance
Limited and many others.
Usually, the companies interested in offering placements to our
students contact us with their requirements, the job profiles and the
preferred academic background of the students they wish to consider.
This information is put up on the notice boards as also circulated to
the final year classes and a list of students who are interested
along with their details are sent to the company.
Subsequent to the
PPT, Tests and / or Group Discussions are organised followed by
personal interviews. Then the list of selected candidates is informed
to the placement co-ordinator and these students are in turn informed
of their selection. The letters of offer of Appointment are sent by
the company to the students and their consent for accepting the offer
is sought. Those who have given their consent later join the company
on completion of their course and fulfillment of all the necessary
formalities.

A separate block with a constructed area of
3,066 sq.m. houses the GRDIM and the School of computer Science. It is
complete in every respect with fully equipped spacious Class Rooms,
Lecture Halls, Seminar Halls, Departmental Library, Conference Hall,
Audio Visual Room and a modern state-of-the art Computer Lab with the
latest Software and Hardware facilities and high end servers.

The MBA Programme (Two year full-time
carries the approval by both the Bharathiar
University, Coimbatore and
the All India Council for Technical Education. While the first year
provides a solid footing to the students arming them with the
rudiments of business, the second year offers them an opportunity to
specialize in a field of their choice from among Marketing, Finance,
Personnel, Production and Systems. GRD Institute of Management offers
students a wide range of elective papers to choose from.

Seminars and workshops (on campus and
outstation), guest lectures, paper presentations, simulations, case
studies, role-plays etc. are made part of the MBA at GRDIM. Exposure
to the demanding real life of business situations and problems
through projects and other interactions plays a vital role. Periodic
visits to the industrial establishments at Coimbatore
and major cities like Chennai, Bangalore
and Kochi
enable students to have a feel of real life situations in business
and industry.

‘CORP-EX’, the association of MBA
students gives full scope to express their talents and discuss and
analyze developments. The monthly Newsletter of the MBA students,
‘Milestone’ provides them an opportunity to share their
perceptions and provides an update on the latest developments.
