Three-dimensional structures of more than 4.5 lakhs of small molecular compounds are known today and these are deposited in the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD). Three -dimensional structures of more than 45,000 macromolecules are known today and these are deposited in the Protein Data Bank (PDB). The workshop will cover the X-ray crystallographic details of determining these structures. Hands-on experience will be given to the participants in the determination of the three-dimensional structure of biomolecules using the Nobel Prize winning topic DIRECT METHODS. Use of determining some of these structures will be emphasized using Structure Based Drug Design (SBDD).
