Extracurricular Activities

GRD BOOK DAY

 

February 20th 2010 was Book Day at GRD. The following book related activities were show cased.

1. STORY THEATRES (Class 6)

    Stories from the Panchatantra, Jataka, Aesops, Hitopedesha were converted into skit and were performed on stage using simple props and costumes.



 

2. GETTING HOOKED TO INDIAN EPICS (Class 7)

    This was a story telling session from the epics - The Ramayan and the Mahabarath - using charts and simple illustrations.

3. POEMUM (Class 8)

    This was a poem museum. Different poetry forms like the ballad, sonnet, ode, elegy, limerick, haiku etc were show cased.

4. BOOK REVIEWS (Class 9)

    Books currently read by the students were reviewed. The books covered different categories like adventures, mysteries, biographies, medical fiction etc.

5. READING TOGETHER (Class 1,2)

    Children of Class 1 and 2 read together.

6. READATHON (For Class 3 by Class 11)

    On the lines of a mini marathon, class 3 students read books without interruptions for 1 hour 30 minutes.

7. PICTURE THIS (For Class 4 by Class 11)

    Each group in class 4 was given a bag containing a number of pictures. These pictures were imaginatively used to write a story.

8. STORY TIME (For Class 5 by Class 11)

    A Character bag, a prop bag, a setting bag and a plot bag placed on a table. Students pick up a character, a prop, a setting and a plot and create stories.

9. BOOK QUIZ (Class 11)

    Quiz cards were prepared and a book quiz conducted.

10. MUST READS (Class 11)

    A Must reads corner features our list of 'Must Reads', E-books and audio books.

11. NEWS FROM THE WORLD OF BOOKS (Class 11)

    Book awards, most loved children books, books made into movies formed this segment.

GRD BOOKDAY is our tribute to our inspiration Prof.G.R.Damodaran who had done so much in the field of education. Our book day was a whole school participation. GRD BOOKDAY Inaugurated by Mrs.Rohini Mohandas.
