GREEN GRD - ECO CLUB

This year the Eco club of GRD school met on National youth day on 12th January 09. Through the game “Web of life” and through the game “Oh deer” children learnt about the Interrelationship and Interdependence of various life forms and —availability of resource and their depletion. Children thoroughly enjoyed the games and subsequent discussion.

OBJECTIVES


• To educate children about their immediate environment and the causes for its deterioration
• To impart knowledge about the role of different factors in an ecosystem, their interdependence and their need for survival
• To mobilize youngsters by instilling in them the spirit of enquiry into environmental problems
• To involve students in environmental preservation efforts however small they may be.

OTHER INITIATIVES INCLUDE


• A student committee for water patrol, electricity & garbage patrol was set up.
• The school was declared a ’No poly bag zone’.
• A ’go green’ documentary was screened for students of class IV and V —it covered various aspects of environment like air and water pollution, water conservation, deforestation and afforestation, global warming and so on.
