Dr. G.R. Damodaran College of Education established in 2005, is an institution of the reputed GRD group of institutions under The GRD Trust. The College has been planned to be developed eventually as an institution to offer degree, diploma and short term courses as well as training in specialized areas in Education and to promote advanced studies, research, outreach activities and innovations in education and related areas.

To begin with, the College offered the Bachelor of Education Programme leading to the B.Ed degree of the Bharathiar University in the year 2005-‘06. In the subsequent year, the G.R. Damodaran Teacher Training Institute was started for offering the 2 year Diploma Course in Teacher Education (D.T.Ed.) Programme.
